Update - Avocado Alert

As of this past weekend, harvesting and packing operations within Uruapan have returned to normal. There are roughly 30 packers in Uruapan out of the total 80+ in the state of Michoacan, and these 30 packers represent most of the larger packers in the region. The packers in Michoacan outside of Uruapan remain suspended currently. For the 30 approved packers, enhanced security protocols have been implemented and they are permitted to carry out all activities as normal.

We anticipate limited harvests will continue this week at 25-30m Lbs. into the US. Field prices remain very high, and packers will be working to harvest fruit as quickly as possible given the very short supply conditions in the US. There were heavy rains and some flooding throughout Michoacan and Jalisco last week. This will cause a short-term delay on Loca fruit as dry matter will not meet minimums as a result. We donโ€™t anticipate any significant new crop harvests this week. With all these factors considered, we anticipate overall industry supply to remain limited at least for two weeks.
