Sustainability & Buying Local

Sustainability & Buying Local

ย

Sustainability at Premier ProduceOne starts with how and where we source.

We make a strong effort to partner with local growers, allowing us to source high-quality produce and specialty goods closer to home.

Buying local is not just about proximity; it plays a direct role in sustainability. Shorter transportation routes reduce food miles and emissions, minimize handling, and help preserve freshness. Supporting regional farms also strengthens local economies and encourages responsible agricultural practices within our own communities.

One of our valued local partners is Vigeo Gardens. Based in Akron, Ohio, they provide vibrant microgreens and mushrooms year-round. Vigeo grows only what is needed, supporting a sustainable production model that prioritizes freshness and minimizes waste. Their state-of-the-art indoor farm maximizes vertical space while reducing resource consumption, and their system repurposes organic waste to further limit environmental impact.

Fresh 'n Crisp Farms, located in Hudson, Ohio, is another key partner. Using hydroponic growing methods, water-efficient systems, and greenhouse production, they deliver crisp, long-lasting lettuces and greens year-round. Their innovative approach supports consistent quality while reducing resource use.

In addition to indoor growers, we work with field farms such as Holthouse Farms of Ohio, which prioritize soil health and long-term agricultural sustainability. Through responsible farming practices, they protect land and water resources while producing dependable, high-quality crops.

By sourcing locally whenever possible, we support long-term sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and collaborate with growers who share our commitment to responsible, high-quality food production.
